The British tour began on a high with Friars Aylesbury. We immediately felt welcomed by David Stopps who I've known since the Friars shows with Genesis in the early 1970s, which were always a special event. A fabulous venue and great atmosphere. We enjoyed working with special guests Nik Kershaw, John Wetton, Steve Rothery, Jakko Jakszyk and Amanda Lehmann on both this night and the big one the following evening at the Hammersmith Apollo. What an audience! The whole show exploded into life at Hammersmith with such an enthusiastic interactive crowd. It was great to be back in that venue where both Genesis and myself as a solo artist had played. It felt like being in a capsule where no time had passed at all...

This extraordinary energy and continued rapport with the audiences continued on through Cardiff, Liverpool, Glasgow, Gateshead and Birmingham... Fabulous venues with a great sound and big enough stages to carry our visual show. It was great that Ray Wilson joined us again as special guest, this time in his home area of Glasgow. It was also fab to have multi talented Anne-Marie Helder perform as support each night of the UK tour.

Not much spare time, but Jo and I did get to walk in the Beatles footsteps through Liverpool and also to explore some of those ancient parts of Newcastle. You can really feel the history around the area of the castle keep and the Black Gate that was part of the forbidding defences...

And so on from the UK to Ireland... Dublin was jumping with festive fun around the Rugby crowds. We enjoyed exploring the streets with our wonderful Italian friend Vania as our guide. As we wove our way through we were surrounded by all kinds of talented musicians, guys dressed as Vikings, leprechauns, Hare Krishna singers and revellers. An extraordinary vibrant place! The audience that night at our Vicar Street show was full of life and sang along with great enthusiasm... Next stop Scandinavia...
