The Road to Rome

In gleaming sunshine with its fountains and Baroque splendour, Vienna was as beautiful as ever. There was a palpable buzz in the air at the show.
A quick flight over the mountains and we were welcomed into the arms of Italy. Our wonderful friend Vania whisked me off to a radio station in Milan for an interview along with Ray Wilson. He gave a cracking performance of Carpet Crawlers that night and also joined in Entangled and I Know What I Like. It was fab to see Sergio, head of Blue Sky there too.
Italy as always was a fantastic celebration with many special friends and audiences who were as enthusiastic as ever with shows going from strength to strength.
From Vicenza, just south of the Alps, we hurtled down to Rome. At the historic Teatro Sistina 'in the heart of the city' I was intrigued to be allotted the dressing room Marcello Mastroianni occupied for a year. If that couch could talk...
The Eternal City was as spectacular as ever and our time there felt all too brief - Everywhere in Rome seems etched in marble memory...
Whilst Rome has its pillars and catacombs, Bologna has its colonnades and towers and is a cultural melting pot between cultivated plains to the north and wild mountains in the south. Watcher of the Skies kicked off there to a rapturous reception. Somehow Italy always feels sunny, even in rain!
A big thank you as ever to Vania Santi, Sergio Fornasari and the whole of Blue Sky along with all the promotors and friends for a particularly fantastic Italian experience. I look forward to our return in July. Next stop Germany...
