Band on the Rhine - July 2012

Magic of Loreley

Nad and Steve
I was thrilled to return to Loreley, an exquisite setting in an ancient Roman amphitheatre on a craggy outcrop above the river Rhine, where in legend a Loreley maiden once lured unwitting sailors on to the rocks. The festival always has a great atmosphere and feels like a big family... many friends both on and off stage. Lots of bands gave strong performances. The Flower Kings sounded really fab. Their guiding light and guitarist Roine Stolt will be guesting on my forthcoming Genesis Revisited II album.
Our band headlined to a brilliant crowd. Unfortunately Amanda was unable to join us, laid low with Bronchitis and was sorely missed. Standing in for the busiest bass player around, Lee Pomeroy, Phil Mulford took the Taurus pedals by the horns and turned in a thunderous performance. The sound and lighting was top notch and guest singer Nad Sylvan went down a treat as he joined us on the encore for Watcher of the Skies.
The sky watcher must've been effective as once again rain turned to sun and we played under a beautiful sunset.
My thanks to Winfried Volklein for organising the event, and to Jo, Brian, Martin and Marcus, crew and band of brothers...
