Following our gig in Calgary, we drove through the snowy landscape alongside the ice road truckers directly north to Edmonton. The gig that night had such a warm reception that we forgot the cold outside... Thank you Edmonton!

The following day we flew to equally snowbound Winnipeg. I caught up with cousins in both Edmonton and Winnipeg, which was long overdue. Several of my family emigrated to Canada, including myself at age seven with Mum, Dad and John. But Mum was homesick, so we returned home. The crowd was jumping in Winnipeg and so did we.

Via two flights, we arrived in Detroit, home of Motown. That music always takes me back to 1960s dance halls. Later, Randy Crawford who sang on my song 'Hoping Love Will Last' did a fantastic version of 'Street Life', for me a joyous song in Motown style. Walking the streets of Detroit, Jo and I felt a fun vibe, with fabulous murals, sparkling lights and music amplified into the road. The gig that night was alive with excitement at the beautiful Fillmore.

So now off to Washington DC...
