Courtyard of Bonnet House, Ft Lauderdale
We took a two day break in the Florida sunshine... huge change from the extraordinarily wintry conditions of Quebec!
On our way to find a quiet cafe away from the coast road, Jo and I spied some beautiful tropical gardens and stumbled on colonial style Bonnet House, replete with strange artefacts from around the world and paintings by its former resident, artist Frederick Clay Bartlett.
It was a great area for walking, from sandy beach to a park with some of the most exotic weird looking trees! The show was hot and explosive. We all had a great time and there was heady excitement from the crowd.
Mum and husband Mike were on holiday in Florida with family and we all met at Clearwater, which was special. The Clearwater, Orlando and Atlanta shows had a terrific energy. Durham, NC was one of those towns with an industrial zone transformed into a fun place replete with restaurants etc... As soon as I entered the atmospheric Carolina Theatre I thought it must be haunted. And for sure, I was told it apparently had at least two ghosts, a little boy and a dancer. There was info on the walls on the Civil Rights campaign. Unbelievably horrific the way Afro Americans were treated before that time. Part of this exhibition was a sign "Colored must sit in balcony".
We all enjoyed this last show of the tour, and the crowd was fantastic...
It's been an incredibly varied and enjoyable tour for all seasons through so many time zones and climate changes. My thanks to Brian Coles, our agent Wayne and all our team...
