The Spoleto event... Marco, Steve, Mario, Jo and Massimo

Stunning Vistas and Heavenly Hilltops - June 2024

Jo and I were thrilled to be back in Italy and I enjoyed talking at a special event focussed on Genesis in the beautiful old hilltop town of Spoleto. It was really great to meet event organiser Marco Rambaldi and his wife Sara, and to spend time as well with friend Mario Giammetti and his partner Ada. We enjoyed seeing other pals and meeting fans as well. Many thanks to Marco, Mario, Massimo and everyone who helped organise the event.

We had the chance to walk around Spoleto too. What a gorgeous town, with all its atmospheric Medieval and Baroque buildings, alongside some intriguing Roman ruins. The view of the nearby mountains from beside the castle walls at the top is spectacular.

After the event Jo and I spent a couple of days in Arezzo, another fabulous old hilltop city with an incredible view from up high, close to the cathedral. It was the perfect setting for our wedding anniversary.

Finally, in the lovely city of Cesena we joined Vania, Sergio with his wife Patty and Massimo, all very good friends of ours from the agency Musical Box 2 which organises our Italian shows. Vania, Sergio and Patty took us into the hills to the special town of Sarsina, where we saw some fabulous statues and other stonework from Roman times. We then all went on to have lunch beside a magical lake, nestled between the wooded hills.

The following day Massimo and his partner Sandra with pals showed us around Rimini. I was so surprised by what we saw because when I went there years ago with Genesis, all we saw were high rise buildings by the sea. This is a totally different part... Very old, going back to Roman times with a fabulous Roman bridge still in use for pedestrians over the river. Believe you me, this historic part of Rimini with its narrow streets beneath shutters and balconies and the ancient buildings is totally picturesque and intriguing!

It's been a wonderful week in Italy and both Jo and I felt so very welcomed by the incredible hospitality of our Italian friends and hosts. I'm totally looking forward to returning for my autumn tour...
