Defying the elements - January 11

Going for it!

Going for it!

The Christmas lights have gone, it's raining outside, the temperature has plummeted again... but deep inside Hackett Towers, the fires have been lit, they're burning bright, and a new album is beginning to emerge from the darkness. Explosive electric guitar flows alongside acoustic melodies and I'm beset with an avalanche of ideas, which often come in the dead of night or crack of dawn.

A quizzical expression from Roger and I know we've hit on another challenge! This is an exciting time when the melting pot can throw up almost anything and even my dreams seem to be working overtime with extraordinary imagery. People who've long since shaken off this mortal coil have been paying a visit, waves from the sea have crashed against the back walls of my childhood London home, distant pastures draw close and primal sounds blow in. There's a sense of adventure on the horizon as the new album begins to come into an early focus. It's like when you look into a child's face and for a moment you get a glimpse of what the adult is likely to be. This one has a roaming spirit, but it's still in its infancy...
