6. Shadow and Flame
Inspired by India, this song depicts the strong contrast of light and dark on the River Ganges, where life and death interplay within and at the water's edge... Everything ultimately builds in a raga-like fashion, spearheaded by Sheema Mukherjee's strong, potent and exotic sitar, ultimately added to by a plethora of instruments and sounds.
7. The Hungry Years
There is a nod here to the purity of those poignant songs of the 1960s, with a sense of love, loss, reflection and memory... This was the time when I was growing up. Amanda Lehmann with her beautiful harmonies builds the song alongside my own voice, and a rockier element finally interplays...
8. Descent
In total contrast to the previous track, this instrumental combining orchestra with guitar, takes us on a powerful descent into the darkest of places where we meet our deepest fears and nightmares...
9. Conflict
From despair and confusion, the lost follow the empire builders over the edge of the cliff from sanity to war. Forces build with orchestra, and guitar thunders in, taking on a heavy, ripped tone as violence breaks out, and then eventually falls into a broken silence...
10. Peace
A song of hope ... A celebration of courage, awareness and compassion... Beginning with piano and single voice, then building to a mass of voices alongside my guitar...
