1. Fallen Walls and Pedestals

This track is heralded by the tar from Azerbaijan, before exploding into a dynamic instrumental, involving guitar with orchestra. There is a sense of the grandeur and destruction of great empires which rise, control, burn and disappear through the ages...

2. Beasts in Our Time

There is a lullaby aspect to the beginning of this song, interspersed with powerful choir, Rob Townsend's sax and my guitar, before all is let loose and the beast is out... From a walk in a peaceful garden to a wheel of fire and a shipwreck, an ominous presence gradually makes itself known. An evil force from the mists of time has new clothes but is once again on the rampage...

3. Under the Eye of the Sun

A celebration of the wonder and majesty of the bright, towering rocks of desert wilderness, with bright electric guitar and a combination of male and female vocals (Amanda Lehmann and myself), driven by Jonas Reingold's strong bass and Gulli Briem's thundering drums... Breaking down in the middle as we enter a dark cavern beneath with the Shamanic combination of Rob's duduk and Paul Stillwell's didgeridoo, weaving through the depths until John Hackett's flute echoes through and opening and leads us back into the sunlight.

4. Underground Railroad

Following the lonely sound of my harmonica, Durga and Lorelei MacBroom beautifully express the heartfelt pain of those who suffered slavery in America's Deep South. The song then goes through several changes, picking up pace, tension and ultimately joy as we follow the Underground Railroad, which led many to freedom nearly two hundred years ago.

5. Those Golden Wings

This an epic love song, ranging from orchestral and choral to rock, with a number of twists and turns, depicting a dangerous voyage and quest, culminating in romance, deep love and resolution. My guitar morphs and goes through changes throughout. This song is about my darling wife Jo, her personal journey and our relationship, and it means a lot to me.
