Dragons and red lanterns - February 2016
With the Chinese New Year celebrations this week (the Year of the Monkey), Jo and I took a brief break to visit London's China Town. What a fantastic array of colour, with hundreds of red lanterns between those magical gateways. I always loved the Oriental touches in the Rupert Bear annuals as a child and it took me back to that sense of a child's wonder.
From an image of those exotic Chinese boats on the China Sea which gave me the idea for The Red Flower of Tai-Chi Blooms Everywhere music to those luminescent red lanterns, the Oriental creative spirit always remains a source of inspiration...
