For most of us, January is not an easy month as the warm glow of Christmas is behind us and we feel the chill of winter with long dark nights and grey porridge sky days.
But this last weekend a group of us were able to celebrate the joy of music and life in the magical world of Trading Boundaries, with its myriad lights, exotic Indian artefacts and those special Roger Dean paintings...
Jo and I arrived on Friday to see Amanda Lehmann perform her own show, supported by Nigel Pearce giving his talk with visuals and music on the Beatles and Apple Records. Amanda put on a wonderfully engaging show, with her beautiful singing, talented guitar playing and moving songs. The audience were entranced by her special performance, and Jo and I were equally captivated.
My two acoustic shows on Saturday and Sunday involved Roger King, Rob Townsend and my brother John Hackett along with Amanda as special guest. Both evenings were met with a wonderfully warm audience response and we all felt a quickening of the spirit as we played in that spellbinding place, which I'm sure adds to the vibe of our sound. Jo and I were thrilled that my mum was there with us all on the Sunday. It felt special to be in the warm company of fans, friends and family.
Many thanks to Michael Clifford and everyone at Trading Boundaries for organising it all and for their incredible hospitality.
We very much look forward to returning again soon...
