Malta welcomed us in with the warmth of the sun shining through palms and reflecting off ochre walls. It was great to see our promotor and pal Nigel Camileri again and to all have the chance to catch up together with him, his wife Sharyn and son Max.

Nigel treated us all to a fabulous meal in our hotel close to the beautiful bay of St Julians. The following day he took Amanda, Jo and me to the gorgeous historical citadel of Mdina, which inspired the track Mdina the Walled City on my acoustic album Under A Mediterranean Sky. You can virtually hear those ancient walls from many layers of history and cultures whispering back to you as you saunter through the narrow streets and passageways. From the high ramparts there we could see for many miles around.

Just outside Mdina we all wove our way through the atmospheric streets of old Rabat, part of which is built over a network of ancient catacombs. It was fascinating to visit the cellar of the restaurant where we had a big evening team meal. Beneath it was part of the catacomb cave... Here we saw the niches where the bodies had been.

The following evening we enjoyed playing to a lively, responsive crowd at the Hilton Conference Centre. It was a great vibe and the lights looked beautiful too in that venue.

My thanks to Nigel Camileri, John Giddings, Brian Coles, Adrian Holmes and the whole team...
