From the Northern Hills to the Southern Seas

Having left Scotland, we travelled across the rugged hills of northern England to Scunthorpe, where we played to a fabulously appreciative crowd in the lovely Baths Hall. Both Bradford and Nottingham were equally special, with fantastic audience reactions.

Continuing on south, we enjoyed playing close to London in Croydon and Guildford, where the band were totally on fire! The Brighton show had an incredibly wonderful vibe. Jo and I enjoyed walking past the magnificent Pavilion, through those atmospheric Brighton Lanes and on to the Pier.

It was great to play in all those south coast towns, from Brighton on to Poole with its atmospheric old buildings facing the harbour and Bexhill where we enjoyed a walk along the sea front. Extraordinary, the behaviour of some of those dastardly seagulls. One of them stole an ice cream straight out of a woman's hand!

The marina where we stayed in Southampton was fabulous. It felt great to play at the Southampton Mayflower theatre, which as the Gaumont had hosted the original Genesis show I was involved with in 1977, becoming the Seconds Out album. It felt like everything had come full circle!

Our last South Coast stop Plymouth was awe inspiring, with its picture-book lighthouse and spectacular scenery. I do believe the sea is good for the soul. The band played like demons and the crowds were ecstatic!

So, now we travel back to the north to for our show in Carlisle...
