Spain & Portugal Tour blog - Iberian Vistas - November 2024

Both the Madrid and Lisbon gigs were a great success, with amazing crowds full of excitement and the band taking the shows to the top, heightened by Alec's amazing lights. Some guys in the Lisbon audience told me they attended Genesis' Lamb Lies Down on Broadway show nearly fifty years ago in the middle of a revolution situation in Cascais, with fire crackers going off, tanks in the street and mayhem inside the venue... I remember it well too!

On reaching Madrid, we all realised we were lucky to avoid the terrible floods which have wreaked havoc in the Valencia region of Spain. Once again, Jo and I explored the old town and this time we also went to the famous Ramirez guitar shop which had also been graced by Andrés Segovia, George Harrison and John Lennon, amongst many others.

Following a drive through dramatic scenery from Spain to Portugal, we visited the spectacular old part of Lisbon, with its narrow streets, majestic gothic cathedral and fantastic beautiful viewing points... All bathed in warm sunshine.

Our Iberian experience was special... Many thanks to promotors Miguel and Pedro, as well as to Solo, Adrian, Brian and our whole team. We look forward to returning as soon as possible!
