Northern Europe Tour blog 1 - A Tale of Three Countries - July 2024
Travelling this time via road from the UK, we took the magic bus through the Channel Tunnel and then drove on to Paris with tour manager Adrian Holmes at the wheel!
It felt fabulous to be in vibrant Paris again, with its magical atmosphere. The beautiful Grand Rex was a perfect place to kick off the new "Genesis Greats, Lamb Highlights & Solo" tour, with a fantastic crowd response!
No time to stop! The next night we played at the Ancienne Belgique, Brussels to an equally strong reception...
Just enough time to sample those delicious Belgian waffles before heading off to Zoetermeer, Netherlands.
The four sold out shows there at the Boerderij all went off like a rocket with amazing crowds! It was great to see promotor Arie Verstegen there too along with his wonderful Boerderij team.
Whilst there, our pals Martin, Jacqueline and Mark took us out to see some special places...
We all looked around the picturesque old town Gouda, famous for its cheese. We also visited the colourful, charming old town of Delft and we took a boat trip through Utrecht, where we saw the city and its historical buildings from the different perspective of the canal world.
By contrast, it was a sobering experience to visit the Anne Frank Museum and house in Amsterdam. It was incredibly sad to think of how she and her family had to hide in such a claustrophobic situation for two years, then to be discovered and taken to Auschwitz, and she died so close to the end of the war in Bergen-Belsen. We were grateful to Norbert Hinterleitner for all his help and information, shedding additional light on the horrendous situation.
Following the last of the four fantastic shows in Zoetermeer, we set off for our next destination, wonderful Copenhagen...
My thanks to Brian, Adrian, all our team, the promotors plus John Giddings and his Solo team.
