Latin America blog 4: Magnificent Mountains and Wild Waters

It felt great to be landing in Santiago between the towering peaks of the wild and majestic Andes… Santiago is a beautiful city too, with lots of green spaces. We also noticed on a trip to see pals of the Genetics guys for a barbecue, that several of the more low lying hills are covered with cactus, reminding us of Arizona…

After an additional flight, we played in Concepción, a town close to Patagonia and significantly cooler than Santiago. The crowd there though was excitable and the vibe was hot! It was a successful show.

Back in Santiago, our singer Tommy’s pal Andrés kindly took Jo and me up into the Andes mountains. And wow, what a fantastic sight! Those mountains get ever taller… The highest peaks are covered with snow and glaciers. It was a totally memorable visit for both of us.

That night, we played to a wonderfully exuberant audience and the gig took off like a rocket!

There was an equally powerful vibe in the Movistar Arena Buenos Aires, and a massive crowd! The vibe of the whole show was amazing…

My thanks to Brian, Wayne, Facundo, promotors, Vince and all the Genetics team for putting on a fantastic tour!

The following day Jo and I went with pals Claudio and Romina to the Iguazu Falls. What an incredible sight! The Devil’s Mouth was particularly amazing. The power of that torrent of water was incredible, and the whole place reminded us of the Victoria Falls, set amidst the wildest scenery. In this case the jungle, replete with monkeys, exotic birds, pumas and other creatures of the tropics… Our thanks to Thames Travel for that wonderful experience.

We’re now travelling home with the most fabulous memories of our experiences in Latin America…
