European tour blog 3: Waterways Through Time…
It felt fantastic to play in the Netherlands again to such totally enthusiastic crowds at both Boerderij, Zoetermeer shows and then Tivolivredenburg, Utrecht! This country has always been good to me, and I’ll never forget what a joy it was to record Spectral Mornings here. It always feels like a homecoming and everyone is so welcoming and appreciative…
Jo and I managed to get some time to explore the area as well… On the first day our pals Martin and Jacqueline took us on a surprise trip via horse and cart around the beautiful town of Delft, with its turrets, historic houses and wonderfully picturesque canals. It was a fantastic experience! Then on the second day, pals Volker and Michaela joined us all on a fun, relaxing boat trip around Rotterdam port, the largest in Europe. From there we could see not just the industry, but also some extraordinarily futuristic architecture contrasting with quaint old houses and windmills. Lovely moments of calm between the wild shows…
This has altogether been an amazing tour in every country, with band absolutely going for it at all the shows with total enthusiasm matching their brilliant performances, and the most ecstatic audiences we could ever wish for!
Many thanks to Brian, Adrian, Solo, the promotors, the band and all the team… I’m really looking forward to the UK and Italian tours in the Autumn, once again with this fantastic band!
